Myofascial Release Therapy In Hillsborough NJ
Perfect Formation’s trained therapists in Hillsborough NJ offer a wide variety of Physical Therapy services designed to address Myofascial Pain
What is Myofascial Release?
To understand what Myofascial Release is, we first need to know what Fascia is. Fascia is a thin casing of connective tissue that surrounds and holds every organ, blood vessel, bone, nerve fiber and muscle in place. The tissue does more than provide internal structure; fascia has nerves that make it almost as sensitive as skin. When stressed, it tightens up.
Myofascial Release treatment, sometimes referred to as “Trigger Point Therapy”, is specialized body work. Treatment involves deep tissue pressure to relieve tension and restrictions that can be causing pain. Through tissue memory and repair, restrictions and adhesions form in the soft tissue of the body. These areas cause a pull on other areas of body or at the location of initial injury. This series of tensions causes pain and decreased function.
Myofascial Release works to regain the natural state of the body by eliminating the restrictions throughout the body, and unwinding the web of intricate steps causing the pain. Myofascial Release is a full body treatment that can assist with the following conditions:
- Neck & Back Pain
- Bladder problems
- Bulging disc
- Bursitis
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Degenerative Disc Disease
- Endometriosis
- Frozen Shoulder
- Headaches
- Infertility
- Pelvic Pain
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Pudendal nerve entrapment
- Scars
- Sciatica
- Scoliosis
- Shin splints
- Tennis elbow
- TMJ treatment
- Whiplash
What Kind Of Symptoms Should I Look Out For?
Determining whether your pain is due to muscles, joints or fascia can be difficult. In general, muscle injuries and joint problems feel worse the more you move. Fascia adhesions tend to feel better with movement and also respond well to heat therapy. If in doubt, give us a call to schedule an appointment to help decide if Myofascial Release Therapy would be right for you.
