Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy
Millions of women suffer from pelvic floor dysfunction which can lead to urinary and/or bowel incontinence and pelvic pain. Pregnancy, childbirth, chronic constipation, pelvic surgery, traumatic injuries (like a car accident) and aging can cause pelvic floor dysfunction. It can also be a hereditary condition that runs in your family. Pelvic floor therapy or other women’s specific physical therapy may help!
What is Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy?
Pelvic floor therapy is physical therapy that targets muscles in the pelvic floor to help treat pain, weakness, and tightness. By working with a Hillsborough NJ pelvic floor therapist, you can retrain your muscles and gain back control of your body and your life.
The trained, female physical therapists at PERfect FORMation in Somerset County NJ provide a wide range of therapy options including:
- Postural and structural assessment
- Evaluation of connective tissue
- Myofascial evaluation
- Examination to identify myofascial trigger points
- Pelvic floor examination: neural mobility and tenderness, muscle tone, connective tissue mobility, motor control
- and therapeutic exercises for strength, flexibility, and relaxation
What Kind Of Symptoms Should I Look Out For?
Several key symptoms may be a sign that you have pelvic floor dysfunction. If you have any of these symptoms, you should tell your healthcare provider:
- Frequently needing to use the bathroom.
- Constipation
- Straining or pushing really hard to pass a bowel movement
- Leaking stool or urine (incontinence).
- Painful Urination
- Feeling pain in your lower back with no other cause.
- Feeling ongoing pain in your pelvic region, genitals or rectum — with or without a bowel movement.
Is Pelvic Floor Dysfunction Curable?
Fortunately, most pelvic floor dysfunction is treatable, usually through biofeedback, physical therapy and medications. If you start to experience any of the symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction, contact your healthcare provider. Early treatment can help improve your quality of life and help with your inconvenient and uncomfortable symptoms.

EXCELLENT Based on 35 reviews Pardeep GuruMarch 5, 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ After my ankle ligament reconstruction surgery, I was anxious about the recovery process coming from a background that doesn't like just not exercising, but Perfect FORMation Physical Therapy exceeded all my expectations! The attentive staff made me feel welcome from day one, taking time to understand my specific situation and goals. They created a personalized recovery plan with clear phases, explaining each step and its purpose. This structured progression gave me confidence that I was making real progress, even on challenging days (more so in the early phases of recovery). The facility itself offers a calming yet motivating ambiance - clean, spacious, and equipped with the tools for recovery. Background music is upbeat without being distracting, and the overall atmosphere strikes that great balance between a medical facility and a wellness space. Most importantly, their hyper focused approach to recovery produced pretty fast results. Through their expertise and encouragement, I was back to full exercise in just 4 months - something I honestly didn't think was possible when I first hobbled through their doors on crutches. I cannot recommend Perfect FORMation highly enough. If you're facing any physical rehabilitation journey, do yourself a favor and trust your recovery to these great professionals! Side Note - I worked diligently daily on my at home exercise to aid my recovery. This along with Physical Therapy is the way to go to see the results you want! Elisabeth LeoneFebruary 21, 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Corrine and her team are nothing short of amazing. I have gone here for my post lumbar L5/S1 fusion therapy in 2018 and am currently back working on an another area because I only trust her and her team. Not only are her treatments highly effective, she makes it all make sense to you as a patient. She answers any and all questions and adjusts the treatments as you progress. She has great PT students in training that apply what she teaches them and have also been just as effective in my treatments. While I’ve never worked with the other two team members, I’m confident that should one have to step in, that I would receive the same quality care. I tell everyone to come here if they need PT, and if you’re reading this and are in need of a great PT, look no further. Here’s your answer. We have been using Perfect Formation PT for the last 5 months and it has been an amazing experience. Jess has been my daughter’s primary PT and is wonderful in helping her understand all of the exercises and work through a ballet injury. All of the therapists are so engaged and have expertise in working with clients of all ages and needs. The practice uses online scheduling, has great availability in the evening and has been good at coordinating with our insurance company. Would definitely recommend! I wish we could give them 6 stars! Corrine and staff are helpful and professional! Liam WaddletonFebruary 3, 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I've been in and out of different physical therapy places for most of my life trying to get my knee pain treated, but it wasn't until I went to Perfect Formation that the treatment actually stuck. The team and atmosphere that Corrine has built is nothing short of incredible. There is a massive variety of equipment to work with, each one impreccably maintained. The physical therapists are not just knowledgeable in their craft, but they are also kind, pleasant people who push patients up to the edge of challenging work while making sure they aren't hurting themselves, ensuring a speedy and enjoyable recovery. This winter was the first I can ever remember where the cold didn't hurt my knees. I can actually move and lift things now too, now that I'm being treated for my back and shoulder issues. I would highly recommend Perfect Formation, they are second to none.
